Roland GR-500

Title link takes you to shots via this auction.

Details:
"Up for auction is a Roland guitar synthesizer model Gr-500 for a GS-500 guitar. As far as I know this model was the first guitar synth that Roland or for that matter any company produced."

According to VSE it was produced in 1997 as was the ARP Avatar. Anyone know which guitar synth was the first?

  1. I've heard that the Swedish manufacturer Hagströms was the first guitar synth. The Hagstrom Guitars Patch was made in 1976-77.

If that is correct or not i don't know.

Cool video from 1977 demoing the Patch 2000.

  3. When was the 360 ststems one on the market? Musta been 75 or 76... I remember seeing Timo Laine and Symphonic Slam at the old Forge Club on Yonge Street back then and they were *all* about the guitars synth thing.

  4. The Russ Hamm Guitar Synthesizer, vintage 1974, used on the Synergy album "Cords". Only one made, AFAIK, and it seems to have vanished after it was used on that album.
