  1. Other than the A6, what were the synths in the video?

  2. the first one he talks about is an OSCar, then a nord somethingorother, then the a6, a roland sh-101, some rackmount thing that is unidetifieable due to the sh*t encoding job (pixelate much?) and a roland 808.

then he moves onto the rackmount gear, starting with the virus...

  3. in the rack (top to bottom) there's an access virus, a novation supernova, an unidentifiable 1u device (stabbity stab stab encoding), a waldorf pulse and a novation drumstation. the sampler looks to be an emu e6400.

then of course there's the 303...

  4. Is his new solo album any good?

I am a huge Orbital fan, but for some reason it worries me that he says he mostly wrote it on the Andromeda... I love Orbital, I like my Andromeda, but I just don't associate their sound with that synth...

  5. That was wonderful, but imminently frustrating due to Phil's unwillingness to name any of the pieces of kit. Thanks to Dale and Ian for IDing them (I was able to figure out a few, but the OSCar was completely beyond me.)

Phil is clearly a dyed-in-the-wool analogue aficionado. His taste in synths is exceptional (would that everybody could afford an Andromeda.) I wonder what kind of signal processing he uses...

Have been a fan of Orbital for 15+ years now, that clip was a real treat, even if the encoding made it painful. The bit about the 303 was choice. I still remember when I first saw Orbital live, and Paul passed off the VCF duties on the 303 to Phil during "Chime." That moment filled my young synth-nerd heart with joy.

  6. Looks like the rack mount synth underneath the SH101 is a Korg MS2000R.

I think he´s refering to his new album with a band called " LONG RANGE" or something due to be released in August...

  9. Blimey, he's a bit of a casualty. Not entirely there somehow. Rather typical of Future Music to not actually identify the synths...

  10. I've heard the Long Range version of 'Remind'...awesome.

I presume the Jupiter Six, Roland System 100, Arp 2600, K5000 etc was retained by Paul.

Definitely agree with him on the matter of those early EMU filters. I had an Emax with a superb reasonant filter. More than could be said for the ESI32/4000

Phil does seem a bit random. Too much wacky backy perhaps!

Ilove the stuff the two of them are doing seperatley, but i still hanker for an Orbital reunion. Fingers crossed.
