Roland EF-303

Title link takes you to shots via this auction.

Kind of a virtual Murf before the Murf plus effects, plus step sequencer. I always wanted one of these.

  1. I always wanted one of these two until I actually heard one.

The 16-step sequencer seemed so promising, but you can't get it to do abrupt jumps - it always "slides" between values. And the filter resonance is first-generation Roland COSM, which sounds whistly but not fat.

  2. Anyone I've known who had one insisted it was crap.

  3. I love mine .. the filters are sharp and it adds a nice feel to my live setup. It did help that I got the thing for 50$ also.

  4. There's some stuff on it that's really bad, some that's good. I liked the 6 step sequencer a lot, I never needed to do jumps though. The delay was by far the most interesting thing, it's really heavy with thick LFO modulation-like artifacts when you change the delay time. The major setback to the box is the size, for what it did, it should be about half as big.
