ReplyDeletethey do exist
ReplyDeleteHee Mono
ReplyDeleteHave fun with it.
Also with his big brother ;)
Great look. Clean & classy.
ReplyDeleteoh,a fake one then!..
ReplyDeleteThe Synthi-E looks great, but as a synth it has not much to offer (at least compared to the Synthi-A) we will see this one for sale soon, I´ll bet... ;)
ReplyDeleteIt's missing another vco perhaps and a reverb. It's kinda limited but it fits nice in my setup. The few parts that are in it sound great!
ReplyDeleteNice, Mono !
ReplyDeleteSome info about the modules:
ReplyDelete- LFO rather simple with one waveform and speed and an amplitude slider
- VCO this is pretty nice with 3 waveforms out and a pwm input and tracking at 1v/oct.
- Multimode vcf witch got a real nice resonance to me, the cut-off frequency and resonance are both voltage controled and the frequency got 2 inputs one at 1/2 and one at 2 (atentiated i think different)
- Enevelope folower witch is pretty nice to use this machine as an fx machine.
- Trapezoid with 3 different envelope shapes output and 2 sliders. And the possibility to use this as a lfo.
- Noise generator
- Inverter
- Ringmod/VCA witch sounds pretty nice.
- Output module with a scope connector and 2 output channels.
- Keyboard and Slider build in (not that good)
- Suitcase
I think it;s a nice little portable package quite limited but not bad at all when you buy a vco vcf vca/ringmod etc from other brands. And i prefer the sound of older stuff over newer vco's vcf's etc.
The Synthi E is an interesting piece and I don't want to disparage anyone who has handed over a bunch of money for one, but I really don't see them being worth more than $1k. There are many more interesting and capable units available in that price range. The touch keyboard is trick but it'd be a lot cooler if it had a sequencer.

ReplyDeleteYeah you can buy perhaps more modules new for this price. But it will never have a suitcase and this character/sound. I now got 3 trapezoid generators VCS3, Synthi-E and Analogue Systems and they are all difrent and i think i like the Synthi-E one the most to be honnest. The VCF got lots of character to and the VCO and VCA to but i bet you can buy a new Doepfer one much cheaper but it will never sound the same. I prefer the character from the older stuff above the newer stuff. And ofcourse it's the best to have some of both worlds.
