Fake in that the DVD this came from uses a relatively short piece of live footage cut & paste into a looping montage, with the studio recording of Ricochet dubbed in.
ReplyDeleteNice to see the footage, but a disappointing (and deceiving) release.
The Ricochet album was put together from live recordings with added studio tracks (drums, etc.), but is not a live recording of the Coventry Cathedral concert. My guess is the BBC didn't get a clean enough recording from the cathedral concert and decided to use material from TD's only live album at the time. I'd be curious to know if the video effects were created using the EMS Spectre (or Spectron) video synthesizer.
ReplyDeletePart I of Ricochet was culled from TDs live performance in Bordeaux, France Sept 1975.
ReplyDeletePart 2 was recorded at Croydon Fairfield Halls, London Oct '75.
