Prophet 10, NED Synclavier II and an ARP Quadra. That's a nice line-up of synths:-)
ReplyDeleteLove the JURASSIC PARK sample at the beginning of (and sprinkled throughout) Aggro1's mix. Nice.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know what drum machine Tony Banks used to create the drum loop in the original version? I always thought it was a Linn but I don't actually know.
ReplyDeleteit's sort of a mystery, this huge drumssound in Mama. Some sources say Mike Rutherford brought it in on a drummachine just as an idea to jam on. Others say that Phil brought it in, though it is also used as the basis of a Peter Gabriel tune, as well as being the foundation of a work-in-progress signed by Phil, but never released.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you're right, that it IS a Linn. I guess, that would be a fair assumption. However, what is said to be the trick of the sound is said to be the external processing; distortion and tons of gated reverb.
