ReplyDeleteThere's a local band that has one of those Buchla Marimba controllers. I freaked when I saw it. I thought it was the coolest thing ever. I don't know what it was hooked up to, though...I couldn't see.
ReplyDeleteI have the Marimba Lumina 2.5 (serial number 15. Don't think they made too many of either version...) and think it's awesome! I use it to control the modular (Analogue Solutions, Doepfer, and Wiard), but also to control a Kord MS2000R and Nord MicroModular. Lotsa things you can do with it, even just using the onboard Rompler. I first read about it in Electronic Musician, but I saw one in real life being played by a Resident during the Icky Flix tour in Vermont. After the show, one of the crew was demonstrating it for Jonathan (Phish) Fishman, but I don't know if he ever got one...
