There's a local band that has one of those Buchla Marimba controllers. I freaked when I saw it. I thought it was the coolest thing ever. I don't know what it was hooked up to, though...I couldn't see.
I have the Marimba Lumina 2.5 (serial number 15. Don't think they made too many of either version...) and think it's awesome! I use it to control the modular (Analogue Solutions, Doepfer, and Wiard), but also to control a Kord MS2000R and Nord MicroModular. Lotsa things you can do with it, even just using the onboard Rompler. I first read about it in Electronic Musician, but I saw one in real life being played by a Resident during the Icky Flix tour in Vermont. After the show, one of the crew was demonstrating it for Jonathan (Phish) Fishman, but I don't know if he ever got one...
the cabinets are beautifull,is that orange tolex?
ReplyDeleteImagine Lionel Hampton getting busy with this
