"This was a very early synth that I'd never heard of until I saw this promo piece. A web search brought up this amazing page...which not only has a pile of data and photos, but also features a downloadable, playable emulation! Cool!"

  3. This was basically a VCS3 copied into a keyboard version wasn't it? Peter Z was not impressed methinks.

  4. I remember when these first came out, back in the 70s, and as I recall, there was a certain amount of controversy about them. VCS3s weren't easy to come by in the US, and I believe that I heard that these guys were dealers who had bought a bunch of units (or perhaps AKS systems), repackaged them into these systems, and then sold them as their own product and technology for rather more than the English units cost.

That's what I recall, anyway - I never saw one myself, although I had the brochures. Does anyone know the truth about any of this?

  6. Michael: It is like you think, however, it's a hoot to play. Super fun. Great sounds.

Richard: I own one. If you're ever in the Toronto area, come by and play with it :)

It's big and red with lots of yellow buttons. Just awesome.

Light yourself on fire and run around in circles! Shove forks into electric outlets! Vote Republican!

The synth does look like a lot of fun. The buttons make me expect to hear a cha-cha or samba analog drum rhythm from it. Nice...
