Richard Lainhart at Handmade Music

YouTube via rustyanalog.
"Richard Lainhart's performance from Handmade Music Night at Etsy Labs in Brooklyn, New York. Richard chose his Buchla 200e Electric Music Box not only because of its compact size and functional density, but also because it's the only patch able modular synthesizer with preset memory, making it ideal for live performance."

  4. The patch memory of my modular is organic quantum, and runs on cheezits and fois gras.

  7. Thanks, everyone, for your kind comments - I'm glad you enjoyed my performance.

Concerning the Easel - I've never seen one, much less used one. I'm aware that it has a form of patch memory, based on swappable resistor cards; how practical is in performance? Is it possible to exchange cards in performance with reasonable facility, or do you have to shut down to change presets?

  8. Richard, any chance you will be releasing recordings of your Buchla performances? I've got the ones from your site, but I'd love to have a CD of this latest work and anything else you might be composing. Really great stuff!

  9. I don't have any specific plans to release discs of this recent work, but you never know. I'd love to, actually, but don't have the label connections for it at this point.

I'm going to post a new recording this weekend, though, so stay tuned....
