I have this exact instrument, except it's branded LeLogan.

Matrix, you should do a poll about favorite string machines. I bet that would be a hoot.
ReplyDeleteA poll would be very nice.
ReplyDeleteMy favourit is the string section of the Eminent 310. It sounds smoother then the Solina that used an top octave divider and not 12 oscillators as top octave. It is very obvious, that top octave divider chips do not produce a perfect tempered scale. Maybe this is one reason for the good sound.
And the original Logan String Melody comes second in my opinion.
keep on turning these knobs

How would you propose the poll? Just a post stating comment on your favorite string synth or a more formal poll with a list of string synths you can vote on? If the latter, feel free to provide a list here and I will gather it up for an official poll. If just a generic post, let me know and I'll put it up.
ReplyDeleteNote that most probably haven't had a enough time on various strings synths to be able to vote from that perspective, but it might still be fun.
Afaik, the Wersi company in Germany either built these under license from Logan Electronics, or they simply imported and rebadged them.

Micke,
ReplyDeletethe housing and the features are slightly different from the original Logan String melody and the version II.
So at least, the Wersi version is a version of its own. And maybe Wersi bought the PCBs and adapted the housing a bit. Or the String Orchestra was build to a special order by Wersi.
"Qwave",
ReplyDeleteYes, but the very same model exists as the Logan String orchestra...I thought you knew this already!?
Anyway, from comparing pics of the String Melody II and String Orchestra I noticed the PCB's are virtually identical and laid out in
the exact same way.
Here's a shot of the Logan String Orchestra:
