This is the first time i have seen this on Ebay, and I've been to quite a few auctions links. Thanks goes to retrosynth for immediately catching this one. I will keep an eye out for these scams moving forward.

"The Synthi AKS has three oscillators, a patchbay grid, a small touchpad keyboard , a 256 step on-board monophonic digital sequencer and a 30-note touchplate keyboard(activated by the 50 Hz-hum in our fingers), and housed in a plastic briefcase for portability. There's a Noise Generator, 2 Input Amplifiers, 1 Ring Modulator, 1 Voltage Controlled Low Pass Filter (VCF), 1 Trapezoid Envelope Generator, Joy-Stick Controller, Voltage Controlled Spring Reverb unit and 2 Stereo Output Amplifiers."
'cause, you know, linking to an auction that redirects to a phishing site is really responsible.
ReplyDelete- gee- I wonder what's going on here! I actually *bought it now* but it doesn't show on my ebay.uk account......hmm!
ReplyDelete- infact- anyone else *buy it now* on this one?.....Ken
ReplyDeletewhat is very strange is that if you look at items this seller sold in the recent past, you will notice that the formatting of the auction is different, and so is the email address. In previous (and I guess legitimate) auctions from this seller, a phone number is available, so anyone can check.
ReplyDeletePrevious auctions were with a Paypal option and this one suddenly is with Money Order...
Sounds fishy..

...xavier- or anyone else for that matter- as I *appear* to have one it- would anyone else care to *buy it now*? Infact a good question- is it still available to buy it now!!...........Ken =/
ReplyDeleteInteresting. Anyone see this exploit on Ebay before? It got me, otherwise I wouldn't have put it up.
ReplyDeleteretrosynth on the first comment made the best note of the non ebay address also. I did not spot it at first either.
ReplyDeleteNow I have seen the address, I would just advise Mr.Macbeth not to bother anymore with this auction as it is pure scam.
But if you really want to know, check this auction:
item sold by the real seller
There is a phone number that you can call if you want to check with the person really using this nickname on eBay.

If anyone logged in to what appeared to be ebay to either bid or to add it to their watched auctions they should _immediately_ change their password and any other site that might use the same password. Hopefully no one paypalled the scammers yet.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mr. Retrosynth!!!!
ReplyDeleteI owe you a beer next time you pass through.

COME ON EVERYONE, these photos have been used at least 5 times for different scams, the scams are out of control on vintage music gear and especially synthis. Ebay should get more involved.
