    There was a much cooler handheld box made by StudioMaster that had a couple dozen LEDs and it showed what type of message was being sent. I bought it from Guitar Center when I worked there, and I gave it to a colleague at Gand Music when I quit working there (in the 90s). It's the only piece of gear I've regretted getting rid of.

    does he respond to aftertouch? i'd like to make his eyes modulate with my key aftertouch action.
