I love seeing these units! I have an XG-1 as well as an XG-1m (M for MIDI). The MIDI one has no on-board sounds, it just sends MIDI info out, using a MIDI cable. I have an old GR-707/700 and a new GR-20 guitar synth but neither of these tracks as well as the Unisynth! Of course, with no strings, a 12 fret neck and such limitations it's not exactly like playing a guitar, but it does a great job for what it is.
ReplyDeleteMy only concern is that the rubber on the neck of the MIDI one is starting to decompose (damn you oxygen!). Do you know of any way to preserve or replace the fretboard?

There is a possibility to installa a midi port on the XG-1?
Deletetry armour-all to protect the rubber. unless it's too far gone already :(
