Synth Soundtracks

Micke came up with the mother of all lists for films featuring synths in their sound tracks. Click here for the list on VSE. So... the one thing that bugs me about VSE is that posts expire over time to make space on the server. That said, I will put the list in the comments. Hopefully Micke is ok with this. Pictured: Blade Runner featuring Vangelis and the Yamaha CS80. Trailer directly below.

  2. Wavelength (Tangerine Dream)

    Terminator (Brad Fidel)

    Run Lola Run (Tykwer/Klimek/Heil)

    Charlie's Family (Download)

    Pi (Clint Mansell)

    Videodrome (Howard Shore)

That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

  3. Don't forget Full Metal Jacket. The scene with that fat marine on the toilet with a gun.

    That was William Carlos right?

  4. How about "A Clockwork Orange"? :D

  5. Man that sucks what they did to it with all that CGI. I'd rather go watch my collection Space Precinct episodes.

The Keep (1983) god damn it. Supreme work by Tangerine Dream there, don't know exact synths.\

Night Flyers (1987) got to figure this one out still (Micki?), total 80s cheese!

  6. Risky Business (Tangerine Dream). Can't believe no one mentioned this one yet. Among the general public, it's probably TD's most-exposed work.

Nighthawks (Keith Emerson). Sly Stallone and Keith Emerson on the same project? Yes, and it's probably Stallone's best effort. It's a shame the movie got little publicity. Emerson is in fine form here. Was this the only soundtrack he ever did?

  7. It's Alive (Bernard Herrmann, 1974)
Not only an underrated movie (I like horror movies that deal with adult issues), but as I recall, a monosynth-only soundtrack

Night of the Demons (Dennis Michael Tenney, 1987)
He and the same crew did "Witchboard", I just don't remember whether it also had a synth soundtrack.

    The Stepfather (Patrick Moraz, 1988)

And then there's Goblin, with too many to mention, notably "Suspiria" (1977), "Dawn of the Dead" (1979), and "Deep Red" (1975)

You can usually count on Italian horror from the '70s and '80s to have a synth soundtrack. Dario Argento usually used Goblin, Lucio Fulci usually worked with Fabio Frizzi ("Zombie", "The Beyond")
