ReplyDelete"Do they have his ass mic'ed up" - Every part of Vangelis must be musical...
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't mess with the roadies on that gig. Is that the one where he had a System 700 off to the side?
ReplyDeleteThe SM58 is a sturdy choice for Greek-style miking.
i heard him say somthing to the effect that he doesn't care for modular/patched synthesizers, for the simple reason that he finds them cumbersome. so...two CS-80? er, to a pain at all.
ReplyDeletereed: no, I believe that was at Pavillon De Paris, France in June 1978. At that concert Vangelis was also using a prototype Jupiter-4.
ReplyDeletedo you think maybe he had a mike just to talk to the audience occasionally?
ReplyDeleteno didn't think so...
They were recording. The microphone was used for the talkback channel which was probably recorded to use for reference. Also, based the forced perspective, there is a good chance that its no where near where you think it is.
ReplyDelete440 pounds of analog synth on that keyboard stand? Yikes. It almost looks as if the top CS-80 would fall into his lap.
