Probably sonically boring as all get-out, but that "ELKATWIN 61" font is unstoppably great.
ReplyDeletei have this thing. it is not only a great string machine, but it has perhaps the most hardcore built-in phase shifter i've ever heard. crazy fucking thing.
ReplyDeleteYes, in fact, it's just an organ, featuring a simple monophonic bass synthesizer. But the phaser sound is absolutely great, especially with the strings. I own an ElkaTwin61 also, mine is labeled in white, not orange, and in one of the 2 organ parts, the lower C has a problem due to a broken frequency divider chip. This creates a unique digital noise, depending on temperature, which sounds absolutely great with the phaser :)
ReplyDeleteI may have a similar problem too. The "A" half of the keyboard of My Elkatwin 61 does not always work . It may be due to that chip. I am going to check it out. If it needs replacing I hope that I can buy one from somewhere.
Deletejust bought one for $100. lights up but no sound. wonder what i'll find when i open her up. all the chips pulled to fix others? giabt rat nest? looks 99.9% outside.

DeleteI own on of these beast at home... I think it can be some operation problem since I can't hear the bass octave and I don't know how to activate the split function.

I just got one of these and had to put it straight into storage until i move. i was told when it was given to me that it needs work, but im anxious to hear one. Do you have any videos posted of the synth in action??
ReplyDeleteI Have a problem with mine . It keeps blowing the fuse,the outer one , near the mains socket. I have to see what I can do.The lights were working before I encountered this problem.
