"One of ther most beautiful synthesizers of the late eighties can still impress."

  1. This is the synth that gave Roland a bad name. It was hyped way beyond its' abilities (remember LA synthesis), and at best it has a few nice sounds.

A few? Try oodles and oodles of "nice sounds". The LA synthesis in the D-50 is very warm sounding for digital synthesis. If you were alive in 1987 when it came out, you wanted one. Don't try to BS us otherwise - everyone wanted one, at least until the Korg M1 came out.

I think Roland should go the Korg route and put out a few of their "classic" synths in AU/VST format. The D-50 is an excellent candidate for that, as they've already emulated it (for the V-Synth series) and it's got a sound that is highly individual for a digital instrument.

I'm slightly biased as I had a D-50 for a good 8 years and loved it. Still one of the best instruments I've ever owned.
