  1. Outrageous. Prices are just skyrocketing for everything lately. I guess I can only blame the people actually willing to pony up $2100 for a 303.

  2. I paid $250 for mine at Rogue Music in NYC before they got hot. I've never seen the original box before. Although not one million percent accurate the Audiorealism Bassline2 is fun to play with.

  3. $2100 is not too bad, I've seen them go for $2400. It's a lot regardless, but everything has gone up this past year.

  4. The sad thing is that the reason everyone wants these things now is that a bunch of broke people 20 years ago found these tatty plastic boxes selling for peanuts and decided to do what they could with all they could get. Dunno what those people would be buying today... ratty old Pentium-3 box and a copy of pure:dyne?

One thing's for sure, though - if you have the money to blow $2100 on what can only be regarded as a fashion accessory these days, your days of real, need-driven creativity are either a very long way behind you or never existed in the first place.

  5. A lot of great gear IS expensive, vintage and new stuff, but there are deals out there too. For a European $2100 USD is not that much since the dollar is as low as can be. And there are many great vintage synths that sell for around the same price as a desired vintage guitar FUZZ box.

  6. "For a European $2100 USD is not that much"

I'd love to know which part of Europe considers the best part of EUR 1500 to be chump change.

A lot of great gear is expensive? A lot of complete shite is expensive too - and the 303 was just as good (or not) when it was going for £25 at flea markets. Creativity is working wonders with the limited stuff you've got, not lashing out thousands for that one bit of gear that will finally make the talent fairy visit.
