  1. From listening to that, it's hard to believe he was in the cure. Jeez. that is like jazzy blues crap, steve winwood anyone?

He is talented, its just not my cup of tea.

But seriously, talk about making moogs sound ultra boring..

  2. It's a bit Japan/David Sylvian, and Ryuichi Sakamoto actually. There's a whole other world of alternative music out there. It's an evolutionary thing that happened back in the 80s. You can hear it in The Cure, Cocteau Twins, a lot of the 4AD stuff and more. The influences are there.

  5. OK, this has cleared up some confusion for me. Whenever I've seen this guy's name, I've thought of Roger Powell instead. Now there's a synth geek.

  6. Interesting. He really seems to like long release times on the amp envelope.

  7. Nicely done vid. However, yet another Micromoog with UKS (Uneven Keyboard Syndrome), and personally, I think I prefer the ribbon to the pitch wheel.

  8. he definitely proved once & for all that every Moog synthesizer is capable of making the same boring lead sound.

  9. OK - when I was a kid, I LOVED the Cure. It's some of the stuff on Disintegration that made me want to get my first synth. No joke.

I also dig Roger, and he seems like a very cool guy. And kudos to him for making an all-Moog solo album.

That said: I have to agree with the first comment. I was stoked when I heard of "The Truth In Me", but man did I find that boring. It's like elevator music.

Don't even get me started on the downfall of Stevie Winwood...
