I've had so many bad shipping experiences over the last couple years, these companies just throw the stuff around, and then there are people who sell expensive gear but don't pack well....Don't get me started
ReplyDeleteI picked up an ARP Odyssey mkIII in beautiful shape. It was packed extremely well when I received it. I couldn't believe how well, until I get to the synth... The packing was taped directly to the side panels. Let's just say the mkIII has very delicate side panels. As hard as I tried, the tape took some of the stain with it. I know have a few minor blemishes on what should have been a perfect synth. Yes, this one wasn't the shipping company's fault, but a shipping blunder none-the-less.
ReplyDeleteI had a Jupiter-8 show up from California with its top three keys broken. Crushed corner looked a lot like the box in these pics. It was wrapped half-ass in small-bubble wrap, with about 3" of popcorn all around. This corner broke free of the wrap!
ReplyDeleteSeller had a low rating on eBay. eBay, eBay, eBay. Whadda ya gonna do. The good news is, he turned out to be a good guy & refunded half my money. It was thoroughly cleaned & repaired, and sold.

yeah, as joseph says, don't get me started. I just had my first gearslutz experience however from a professional violinist. Purchased a Korg SE-500, and wow, it arrived in a box that weighed more than the SE itself, I shit you not. There were like 4 boxes, one in the other.... It would had taken a tank to crush it, and the size of the box was beyond large enough for enough packaging material. This is how it should always be done. ;)

Thanks to the US Postal Service, the other day I got an empty box. It was kind of crushed and open on 3 sides. Pretty awesome.
ReplyDeleteone of my favorite shipping experiences this year was from UPS. I get packages for my business at least twice a week, so they know my house. I was expecting some parts to show up and they didnt, so i tracked it...in the results it says. House not found, or incorrect address, a card has been mailed to the recipient asking for correct address.

@ mr's story: this sounds pretty much like Monty Python, Catch22, or Kafka. Priceless! Postal and parcel services seem to be the very same wherever you go...

mr's story reminds me of one of my own. Years ago I had my checks stolen. The problem ended when the person that stole them decided to pay off a parking ticket with one.
