The New Look of the Mattson Mini Modular
You are looking at Production Prototype 1 of the Mattson Mini Modular, owned by none other than me. It is not in my possession yet, but it is coming soon. Be sure to click on the image for a full size shot.
The base system is on the left. I opted for a few extra modules you see on the right. The M panels are blank panels, so the base system would normally have all blanks on the right. The whole thing folds into a very nice carrying case. Note you do get the full case with the base model. You can interlock multiple cases with the latches. If you blow up the picture and look closely you can see how the two are connected; you can just keep connecting and stacking.
I was going to hold off on putting up the new design for a bit, but it looks like Stretta beat me to it. Click here for another system and a good post on the relative price of modulars.
The back of the case will have the very sharp Mattson M as a reflective logo. This is actually the back of serial number 1. There are two Production Prototypes followed by the main production line starting with of course, 1. Mine was done before the reflective design so it will be flat. It looks like I'll have to get an additional one now... That sneaky Mattson...
Update: The problem with the images not loading should be fixed. If you still can't see the images, post a comment. Also note the missing knobs and leds in the Prototype 1 image above as it is not yet complete. George also let me know that the back pictured here is a custom wood back. The standard systems will be hardboard with the M. I forgot about that. I've seen them and the contrast between the logo and the solid dark back looks really nice.

ReplyDeletePS - i'm using safari on a mac

ReplyDeleteTry refreshing. It didn't come up for me when I first loaded it but it does now. It's a standard JPG, half a meg in size each. It could be due to the size?
ReplyDeleteimo , it looks nicer with the black panels....enjoy , Matrix!
ReplyDeleteI need to get me one , to bad he doesn't ship out of the USA
ReplyDeleteYummy!!! What a dream...
ReplyDeleteCool, good luck with it!
ReplyDeleteVery sexy ..... I want one!

Um - I blew it.
ReplyDeleteI thought the pic was old news.
Sorry, everyone.
OK, I updated the images. That should fix the problem for those that were seeing it. If you still don't see the images, try refreshing.
ReplyDeleteStretta, no worries, it was about time for another post and to get the images out there. You get the distinction of being the first site to put the new design up. Pretty cool. :) I get to be the first to show the back. The good news is production is coming along. George is shooting for April to have the first one complete, and I think he might actually make it. Note that this is the stage where you work the details out in manufacturing so stuff is bound to happen. It's just cool to see it come along.
Damn! I _really_ like this new look. And the sheer smallness of the MMM still baffles me.
ReplyDeleteI think that the white borders around the module really confuse the eyes a bit, i could only imagine it'd be worse close up.
ReplyDeletethat said i really like the concept of the MMM and from the demos ive heard, it sounds wonderful.
I think I'll like the black face a little more than the beige, but they don't call me jhveDARK for nuthin'
ReplyDeleteso Matrix has #1
I have #3...... can't wait!
Shipping out of the country? he might just be working on that for the future.
This color looks much better than the cream coloring before!
ReplyDeleteTo think, it was the original MMM fiasco that killed Anonymous posting. This could have prevented all that.
It would look cooler if the black extended around the whole module rather than the white on the borders. The graphics around each knob look like old tube test equipment, that's cool!
ReplyDeletejhvedark, that would be Production Prototype #1. The cream one is the prototype and mine will be the first black production model. There is a Production Prototype #2 and then it goes to Production #1, #2 and so on. Congrats on #3. It looks even better in person.
ReplyDeletewow. I think that is much prettier than the first one. Just looks more oldschool I guess. nice!
ReplyDeleteLooks killer. I still wish you could buy them module by module rather than having to buy an entire system.
