"Siel MDP 40 Midi Digital Percussion Machine. This rare vintage Italian drum machine features a midi in,out, and pedal. Also included is the manual and generic adapter. Its measurements are 13&1/2 inches by 6&5/8 inches by 2 inches. Its shipping weight is four pounds."
played around with one of these once, sounded tinny and uninspiring, but perhaps I used it wrong :-)
ReplyDeleteNo, I think you are absolutely correct. It's bad. Not in a 909 or 808 kind of bad. Not in a DIY/circuitbent bad. Just simply low quality, not-a-hint-of-irony bad.
ReplyDeleteI have this, but it is marked as Suzuki RPM-40. Only usable sound is the clap - barely!
ReplyDeleteit came marked as the siel MDP-40, keytek MDP-40, and Suzuki RPM-40. It's not 909, but I really love it's sounds (i have the siel version). 3 more sounds exist if you use it via midi. I personally really love its sound, but I'm sure it's not for every one. Honestly, it's my fav. drum machine out of what I own (KorgER1, Simmons SDS-9 and Trixer, BossDR202, Prophet64). I think the pre-programmed beats are great, but via midi it's another beast altogether.
ReplyDeletePS - don't bother with the flash version, its samples sound completely wrong.
hi, I just bought it (the suzuki one XD), and I was wondering if someone knew what is the bpm button for? lol
ReplyDeleteThanks =) (can send answer to mao-lyn at hot mail dot com - thanks again)
This thing is 100% legit Italo Disco classix. Sounds great in a mix. Threat it with MIDI and it will threat you back with love. Manual anyone?
