Piero Umiliani - Musica Elettronica Vol. 1

I'm guessing that's EMS. If anyone knows otherwise, feel free to comment.

  1. It's definitely an EMS Synthi 100.

  2. The album sounds mostly like a smallish Arp to me. Though I'm sure someone else can help confirm that by listening. Someone just chose that Synthi 100 picture for the CD when Easy Tempo released it 8 years ago on CD -- and you can still find if you are lucky (the CD not the Synthi 100). The music is vintage early 70s and as far as I can tell library cues. Shame it didn't sell that well back then, there might have been a volume 2.

  3. In fact, there is a volume 2!

As for the synth used by Umiliani on the first volume, I think it's an EMS VCS 3.

Umiliani released a solo album back in 1971 called "Synthi Time" and on that he did use a VCS 3.

  4. Okay, VCS3 makes sense. The sounds are fairly small and simple. Was there a CD volume 2?
