  15. "Might be cool if they ever see the light of day and meet ay kind of demand."

my opinion: the concepts alone a great.

"More than likely you'll be waiting years.."

    fact: bullshit

    i say again, bullshit.

a company's website, especially for a business that was the size that plan b was until reticently, should not be expected to be 100% indicative of anything.

peter has made the point time and time again that production has been and is continuing to increase in volume. this seems to continue to fall on deaf ears.

of course this is all transpiring while accommodating the R&D for new modules, which by the way are ostensibly geared not only toward completing plan b as a line but additionally, to bring truly new ideas into modular synthesis.

then of course these new products will have to be manufactured.

i'm sure the milton will be done soon. what's the saying, rome wasn't built in a day?

when my friend ordered his easel and some modules in the seventies it took something like six months with no word to get his instrument.
still plays it today. people are still wait for buchla's with no word. why? ever played one? peter always picks up the phone and returns emails, and i haven't even bought anything from him yet.*

i'm sort of rambling but i'll say this:

stop complaining about waiting for instruments. some of the best you have to wait for. peter is one of the nicest (really) people in the synth industry. lay of em, let the man get back to work and not worry about having to rebut people. :)

    *i'm 22 and poor.

  24. That's your 'job' wtf????

That might be what you think, but what we think you're one of the biggest jerk-offs blogging. We thought this for years. Your videos are ridiculous, you obviously think you're God's gift to anything you go on about, you constantly bag on manufacturers when they make announcements like Plan B has here and half the points you make like that previous Plan B slam on tracking are as pointless and pretentious as your name. On behalf of the entire analog world we're really sick of you.

  28. "More than likely you'll be waiting years.."

    fact: bullshit

I know someone who is waiting over 2 years for a Milton.
    So no Bullshit at all.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Hexfix93 we understand you havent had the best of luck with Plan B , but please let it go.
I live in Australia and have found Peter and his products to be amazing, he makes the time when he has it to email if you email him, and I once thought I received a scratched faceplate, well he called me, turned out it was just some shit on there.Thats pretty cool in my books, I dont remember Steve Jobs calling me when my mac fuqed up.

Anyway I guess we must remember that these arent huge stores mass producing, we are a small community and should learn to move onwards. Things get better in the future.

Who fucking cares if its original or not if its good and it suits what you want great Smile

I have been lucky enough to talk to Peter G, Mike Brown,Don Buchla, Ken Stone, Paul Perry, Cynthia and they are all real nice people doing amazing things for us all.

  32. Hey Hex

Just stay on this blog i like your posts and Peter´s products.
But i also got double feelings when i see anaouncements and when i know about a ´friend´ who waits for years now for his custom milton to be build. Witch was orderd before plan-b even did excist! So Hex keep being yourself and share us your love and hate. And Peter keep flooding us with exciting products and get things solved.

  33. "I know someone who is waiting over 2 years for a Milton.
    So no Bullshit at all."

right- and the milton has never actually be released. it's essentially still a custom job at this juncture. just like every other milton produced to date. these are production modules. so- bullshit from a bull shitter.

    ReplyDelete
  34. i know some one who has been waiting three years for a custom 16 second delay.

    ReplyDelete
  35. mono-

here are some thoughts on your buddy's milton. he ordered it two years ago. plan b's web site slates it for a june 06' release. at some point after this peter decided that the way he been implementing the sequencer needed to be updated. this is the reason it has not been released yet.

so assuming that peter could even make a milton from the old specs, would it be desirable to have one over the new design in lue of waiting?

or, would it truly be best to have the new sequencer potentially unfinished or some how flawed for the sake of expedience? i remind you all that flaws are what put the original buchla 248 marf to bed.

that said, i understand that other things have been announced and come online before the milton. however, fewer people are going to buy a 4x16 step seqencer then are going to buy say, a neat waveshare/util.vca/ringmod for price reasons alone. in order that the company might operate in todays synth market climate, it become necessary to develope and release cheaper products for public consumption so that operating capital can be earned. it just sucks that a custom order got caught in the middle; to grossly oversimplify it.

  36. "i remind you all that flaws are what put the original buchla 248 marf to bed."

one more comment so that rick won't eat my soul.

it was the failing of one element that causes failure on marfs was it is not, one could argue, representative of the design as a whole's integrity.

although one old timer told me that every time he plugged a certain 100 series module into the MARF it crashed!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Christian to be exactly he did pay for it in Januari 2005. So that is over 3 years to be fair with you.
Sorry but that is not right to me.
At that time he did order the Milton for those specs and not the newer one.
So stop posting crap man! There are dozen off milton's released in the past and i even got a kit for it.

    ReplyDelete
  38. "...i even got a kit for it."

well then problem solved, you can build it for him.

    "So stop posting crap man!"

    fart

  41. Save a piece for me.
I am hungry and can use some blood.

BTW i posted good stuff to about his products and i got a few plan-b stuff.

But don't tell me it's right to have people wait that long and having them charged from day one.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I really like the artistic design behind the modules.

Peter's system looks and sounds great.

I also get the impression from people that if you buy from something like AH (well, noisebug now), and it says they are 'in stock', then they are 'in stock.

Personally, the best way to ensure ones reputation survives nowadays is to announce what is suddenly in-stock, and show stock quantities on a web site.

I get a sense Peter's done a pretty good job working to restore his rep after all that custom work he did in the past.

Now, I could go on about 'Cynthia' and all my module delay woe's with her, but her other customers seem to be doing a fine enough job without me.

    ReplyDelete
  43. "But don't tell me it's right to have people wait that long and having them charged from day one."

you are correct. in that instance, by his own admission, he is in the wrong.

  44. In defense of the Marf:

Technically it was a revelation at the time. It had over 100 CMOS chips which were a new technology which was risky and Don admits they died early deaths because of this. What it did do historically is pave the way for his future arbitrary generators.

In defense of Dennis (monpoly) and Hex:

the Milton I owe Larry is one of the old ones. It's been hard to complete this job, but we owe it to him nonetheless, however I think Dennis is making a issue of something here that's not his point to make and he posts this message on other blogs and usually in times such as this where we are also receiving accolades. I was also was late in delivering Dennis' Serge format Plan B panels, over a year and although I extended a huge discount to him because of this when we did deliver obviously there are still open issues. I understand this, to this day I don't like the way we handled the situation but I cannot change the past. I did what I could to show him I was sensitive to the fact he had to wait so long. My determination that we made good in the end however is subjective and Dennis has the right to feel differently and I think it's fair to say he does. It's a tough place to live where no matter how many successes you may have, how many happy customers there are, that the mistakes you make along the way are continually brought to fore regardless of how many times you take full responsibility for them publicly.

And as Hex pointed out we have also been credited for not delivering product, although over 375 units were shipped last year yet it still wasn't sufficient for the demand. We performed as well as we could do under the circumstances and we've now made a big step to improve them. We've taken the expense to move into a facility which can accommodate a bigger staff and the rather overwhelming increase in overhead to support that. Although challenging at this time, I am confident this will prove to be the right decision and I thank you for your patience and support in the interim.

  45. Peter i aint wanna take you down or what so ever. But it kinda hurts when Larry is still waiting and you know the issues we had. But that just is something witch i left behind me and not gonna post here or somewhere else. I do respect the stuff you do for the comunity and i got several plan-b modules and Milton witch still needs to be build by my technican but hehehe to many projects. BTW i love your gates man. And ofcourse i hope the new modules will ben in stores asap so me and all other can fill up some cases. And hopefully you will keep flooding uss with interesting stuff and get Larry's Milton done.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Hey Peter, how about a voltage controllable ELF x-fader?

    ReplyDelete
  47. small companies....

    pros:
    dope products

    cons:
they bite off more than they can chew at times

.. it all comes down to not throwing out the baby with the bathwater. When I had a defective module, Peter went above and beyond to make it right. He is a good dude and clearly neither he nor Cynthia or Mike Brown, etc. want to leave customers unhappy.

Knowing how hard it is to keep a small business going, it just sucks to see the negativity unleashed. Criticism has its place, and folks need to know what they're getting into when ordering a custom jobbie, but for everyone's sake there are more constructive ways to deal with this type of thing.

Let's collectively approach it like this: order stuff that's in stock or accept the possibility of delays when getting custom work or pre-ordering (just hopefully not with my Livewire AFG! ;) ). Hopefully this scenario will get better as these guys figure out the demand.

    ReplyDelete
  48. For clarification: Larry was charged a dowpayment, enough to purchase parts which are here. Dennis, you own a Milton kit, you know what this entails - about $750. There is a large balance remaining that won't come due until it's delivered. You're spouting information that is not correct.

  51. @ hexfix93

Don't be so aggressive ! I've also have to wait around two years before getting my first Plan B Model 15 Osc. Now, in less than a month I've managed to purchase two of them. Be patient, polite ... but be firm ! I think it could help you.

Keep also in mind that these modules were a really small and niche market. Manufacturers like Plan B, Livewire, ... didn't have real experience in some kind of mass production. That's why Peter Grenader, Mike Brown, ... are trying to reorganize theirs buisness to be more credible companies.

Be patient ... I think better things will happen ... soon ;-)

    Regards,

    Hedi K.

  56. Mr. "hexfix"

let it go. your epic gripes accomplish nothing unless your aim is to irritate. I seem to remember sometime ago that you were no longer going to post online due to the critisism of others towards your costant complaining. perhaps it is time for you to take a break again. clearly you are an enormous attention seeker but you are only bringing negative attention to yourself. your reviews online are embarassingly poor. if it is in fact your job, perhaps you should take some courses or something to improve your grammer. tossing negativity towards manufacturers does no good for anybody...lets feed their gifted genius with positive energy. nourishing a creative spirit with positive energy helps it to flourish! i think the new modules look fantastic and i am sure that many of them will eventually make their way into my set up. until then i have plenty of other tools to make use of and no time to waste griping about when new tools will be released. keep up the great work plan b.... your tools are used and appreciated by many including myself!!

  61. no. the truth is this: you are an obnoxious, self absorbed child and you need to go away. do you have any idea what a pain in the ass it is to have to scroll through your constant crap when i am looking for information online? it's like trying to read a newspaper sprayed with bird crap or trying to hear someone talk with a dog barking in your other ear. I realize that you see yourself as some kind of oracle of synthesizers and that you probably do not have much else going for you, but for crying out loud... tone it down for awhile and give it a rest. your rants are of absolutely no use and your "reviews" are so poorly written that i wonder if you are, in fact, truly an adult. you are not doing yourself any favours either...perhaps more people would still be interested in your music if they didn't think you were such a snivelling waste of time. you are a legend in only your own mind. move on!
