images via this auction"The Ensoniq ESQ-1 is an 8-voice polyphonic synthesiser with 3 digitally sampled oscillators per voice but couples them with a real analogue filter. It features 3 LFOs, which can be freely assigned to a variety of parameters and 4 digital envelope generators, which can also be assigned to many parameters. Although it isn't bristling with knobs, navigation of the ESQ-1 quickly becomes intuitive as each parameter is never more than two or three button presses away, thanks to the generous LED display and surrounding buttons.
It boasts a velocity-sensitive keyboard, to allow a modicum of expression to your sounds. It's great for analogue sounds, but is also capable of biting digital sounds - bells and DX7-type sounds are possible.
A handy built-in sequencer allows for patterns and songs to be recorded, making it an ideal tool for sketching out ideas."
