Auction details (who knows...)
"formerly owned by deceased keyboardist Brent Mydland. This MINI, I am not sure of year but serial number 12,xxx ...I got this from someone who got this from Brent before he died I think, or he possibly got it just after..I can't remember if it was before or after.....He was a friend and worked for the band back in the late 80s... I have had this particular MINI for about 6 years now..I had it recently serviced..it is FULLY FUNCTIONAL.... This board was NEVER out on the road with the Grateful Dead....This logo is something that was only used on DEAD gear for those of you in the know..."
There was a video on PBS in which Brent was playing a Mini on stage with the Dead so if this was Brent's Mini I wouldn't say it was NEVER used on the road.
ReplyDelete2 problems w/this. All of the Grateful Dead's instruments were owned by the band as a whole. This was an issue a couple of years back when somebody wanted to auction off some of Jerry Garcia's guitars and could not because the entire band, not Jerry owned them. This resulted in a very public law suit. Google it. Problem #2 Brent owned a P5 not a mini. He played a P5 on "Go To Heaven" and I think the P5 can be seen in the video "Dead Ahead." After that, he used an "old" Kurzweil Controller, a D50 for his synth sounds, a B3, and a modified baby grand. I call BS on this auction - especially if it is not be the Grateful Dead productions for a charity or something. Also, the GD just donated their archives to UC Santa Cruz. BS!
