Pneuma
Pneuma from Richard Lainhart on Vimeo.
via Richard Lainhart.
"Pneuma" is based on growth patterns generated by celluar automata software, processed in Adobe After Effects to create constantly changing structures ranging from crystalline to architectural. The soundtrack is a live improvisation on the Buchla 200e analog modular synthesizer, controlled by the Haken Audio Continuum Fingerboard fretless keyboard. This HD version was rendered in May, 2008.
Warning: "Pneuma" displays an intense, periodic flicker pattern that some may find uncomfortable. Those subject to seizures should not view this film.

Richard, your stuff is always really good but that strobing totally tweaked me out and thats never happened before. I guess I should go to a Dr about that...
ReplyDeleteI'm very sorry to hear that, Benjamin - it wasn't my intention to make anyone ill, the film just turned out that way.
ReplyDeleteYou might want to have yourself checked out, but be aware that many people respond badly to this kind of visual stimulus - nausea, vertigo - without necessarily having an illness or disfunction. It's just too much for their visual systems.
At any rate, I hope you're feeling better, and I apologize for your discomfort.
great piece Richard!
