"Vintage late 70's Yamaha CS-80 Polyphonic Synth serial number 1096"

The image below is the patch memory for the CS80. It literally is four mini versions of the panel controls. You can select them via the patch buttons on the synth. The CS60 has one.

  1. The CS50 doesn't have any user presets. AFAIK the CS60 has only one. If you do not count the panel settings as a preset...

  2. I realize that MS generally steers clear of mentioning ebay prices (rightfully so), but a starting US$22k is admittedly a bit ludicrous, eh? Guess the market will prove me wrong.

  4. What a joke of a starting price ! ! HA HA

RL music in the UK make the ultimate re-furbished CS80s which are as utterly as perfectly as you can get and they sell them for £7K ( $14k ) but $22k starting bid ? !

Could be a long time before anyone sniffs

  5. matti, that's right. I should know, I have one. There's Panel 1 and Panel 2 preset selectors. One is for the main panel and the other for the preset.

  6. It isn't widely known that all of the presets on the CS80 are alterable. There are boards full of resistors on the inside that determine the parameter values for the named presets. You change them by swapping in resistors of different values.

  9. I finally got to play a CS-80 a couple of weeks ago. The polyphonic aftertouch is something you really need to experience to believe...

  10. I'd give only $500. Not one penny more.
It's time to stop overinflating vintage synths.
