I distinctly remember this machine, and its brother, the AN200, not selling when they came out.
ReplyDeleteThere are probably the same percentage of manufactured units of these on the second-hand market as there are of the Alesis ModFX pedals.
I'd like to find either one...I bought one for the sound lab when I was in grad school, and have wanted my own since...the yamaha products definitely sounded heaps better than the electribes...
ReplyDeleteI sold mine a few months ago and don't miss it a bit. The synth part was great but the drums were a bit uninteresting. The knobs were very low resolution and produced lots of zipper noise, and finally, the PC editor (required for deep editing) wasn't that good. Also, the sequencer had a bug where it cut the first note of the bar when switching patterns.
ReplyDeleteIt was a great concept - an FM groovebox with knobs - but only half developed.
