"In this shortclip Kitaro tells how and why he uses the synthesizer as he does. He also has some criticism about the wrong use of that instrument. This clip can be found on the CD-ROM that was included in the Cirque Ingenieux Album. (c) Domo Records 1997" on Amazon
How can there be a "wrong" use of a synthesizer? People are such wankers.

ReplyDeletegive credit for language barrier. concept is that more direct/intuitive connection to sound parameters will yield more soulful, human performance. Acoustic players shape sound constantly by subtle interactions of many body parts... fingers, breath, lips, some instruments offer more subtlety of control than others. The synth is somewhat limited in this regard and pedals (cutoff, envelope expression pedals for instance) can increase the amount of subtle constant emotive control you have over the sound. You are transmitting more data to the instrument.
