Part 1: Laurie Spiegel Bell Labs Interview 1984

YouTube via MusicMouse
"This interview was taped at Bell Labs in 1984, with brief intro by Max Mathews. Some of this footage may have made it into the documentary for which this was recorded but most of it has not been seen anywhere yet. Apologies for not knowing the name of the interviewer. This is Part 1 of 2."

  2. Incredibly awkward, yet fascinating interview. You go girl, make them pioneering electronic pieces!

  3. This is the Laurie Spiegel I remember (when she would come into Harmony House II in NYC where I worked) though I agree with bo leth that it's an awkward interview. You can see Laurie's incredible intellect and joyous rapture of computer/synthesis possibilities in her eyes. They just sparkle. I was just going through a box of old photos and letters and came across an envelope with some MusicMouse documentation and a nice handwritten note from Laurie. She was doing some new work on the Amiga at the time, a visual version of MusicMouse.
