CR-78 Restoration

"Okay, no new synthesizer modules, as i'm on holiday and just was at home today with a new toy - a CR-78 from a friend which needed a repair/restoration.
Just a short test video here, the full restoration story follows soon, for now, there is just a bunch of photos created during the day:

ReplyDeleteDang, that's one heck of a friend. Huge kudos to him for taking that task on - such a shame SO many CR-78's (and Polysix's for that matter) get LBS (leaky battery syndrome).
ReplyDeleteImmediately was curious if it was a past CR-78 of mine, but that one had a black tolex case (speaking of which, was wood or black tolex an ordering option from Roland?). I was able to get it @80% working after unknowingly buying it w/ LBS off of eB*y, but my life my wanted itself back, so I let it go. Shame, too, 'cause the CR-78 is truly possibly the greatest rhythm box ever. Rosebudddd ...
