Crumar Spirit analog synth
YouTube via buchla300
"Great little synth I just got back from being repaired by James Walker at Synth Repair Services. Don't have much experience of it, so just me noodling. I like it towards the end (after 5 minutes) where I add S&H to the filter. Very flexible with 2 filters and some great modulation possibilities and a pretty funky Arpeggiator." Odd note: this one sounds a bit like my Waldorf Pulse Plus.

thx for sharing, had never had a chance to hear a spirit before. great sounding kit!!
ReplyDeleteAnybody want to buy a kidney?
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about it sounding like a Pulse. I rate the Pulse very highly btw, but the Spirit has blown me away. I would say the sonic character is quite similar on simpler sounds, but when you delve deep into the Spirit, it becomes a bit of a monster.
ReplyDeleteIt is very stable, so FM and stuff can be extremely tight but it's huge sounding if need be.
The dual filters are very interesting. The amount of variety is astounding and they interact in a large variety of ways.
Anyway, I am lucky to have a R.A.Moog Minimoog and ARP Odyssey next to it and both those are unique, but somehow the Spirit seems more interesting to me.
If you are lucky enough to find one out there, I think they are well worth grabbing.
