images at this auction"The Drum Scape is a part of an ongoing body of work entitled "Quadrum", a series utilizing analog drum sounds. These works, especially the more current pieces are capable of big authentic analog sound and beautiful drone scapes.
This particular piece is a simplified version of the two other more recent works: the Impressionist Drum Scape and the Simian Drum Scape in that it is stripped of the delay section. It is, however, capable of the same sounds as heard in the sound samples of the Impressionist Drum Scape, subtract the delay, the internal synthesis is essentially identical. There are also several videos of the Simian Drum Scape that you should consider watching if you're interested as this piece does contain all of the same synthesis.
This particular piece has more drum pads, each of the metal plates is a trigger which activates one or more of the four primary waves. Each has a natural decay and with exception to the snare (white noise) each also has pitch control. Up to three waves can be played simultaneously for drone scapes.In addition there are four jacks which act as triggers to sync to external modular synths or sequencers. Two switches have been added to hold waves for working with the drones. A 1/4" output, volume control, bright white lamp (not shown lit) and a power adapter."
