Subject: What are the best Moogs (non-modular)
Date: Fri, 5 Dec 1997 13:46:04 -0700

Lets talk Moogs. Is the Minimoog the best choice for a good
sounding non-modular Moog synth? It doesn't seem to have that many
controls-- I want something I can really fool around with--- maybe I'm just
talking out of my rear-- I don't know-- I just need someone to reassure me.
:-) Also-- at the present, I am looking for a good working Moog synthezier
at the price of $200 or below. Thank you very much."

  1. Even for 1997 that's a little optimistic on price. 1987, though, he oculd have had his choice of several Moogs for that price.

  2. Around that time I bought perfectly working Mini Moog in excellent cosmetic condition with a custom flight case for $300. So it seems reasonable that someone could have found a slightly worn unit without a case for $200.

  3. i too bought my minimoog around that time for $300AUD and was given a micromoog because someone couldnt sell it...
the rising of prices always suprises me but i suppose things are only worth what someone is prepared to pay for...
dont get me wrong i love my synths but with the prices these days, it seems cheaper to build one yourself, or even buy a new one...
