Why is this labeled "Tabla" ? A tamboura is not a percussive instrument. It is a stringed instrument used for drones in the indian music.

BTW: I got a different version called "Digital Raagini". With a little keyboard with LEDs painted on the top to select the base pitch. You can adjust the gender from "male" to "female" (for the two different real tamboura instruments called male and female). There is also a detunning knob.
I will do a picture once I pick up my instrument at a friend of mine who lent it from me.
Because I'm not going to create a separate label for every single type of Indian instrument. The labels are for manufacturers and in the rare case categories. Tabla was the first label for this category of instruments so I stuck with it. Same for Reactable, monome, russian synths, etc. The label list is also quite long enough. If someone wants to find specific information on Tamboura's all they need to do is search for it.
ReplyDeleteThe idea is if someone is interested in Tablas and checks out the label, they might also be interested in this post. But... I'm not going to painstakingly think of all such lexicons, so whatever comes to mind at the time of the post is what goes up.
