"Here we have a slightly different noise making machine. It is a 10 step analogue sequencer, with 2 internal VCO’s and some logic to allow certain steps to be muted from the sequence to give rythmical patterns and a portamento control to glide one step into the next. It is not a circuit bent toy but built from scratch, purely to make weird noises and sounds.

The way it works is that there are 10 sliders and the position of the slider equates to the pitch of the VCO or oscillator. A led above the slider lights up when the slider is active. A control determines how quick it steps from one slider to the next, and another control determines how many steps there should be from 1 to 10. Under each slider is a switch that drops the audio out from the sequence, so gaps can be created giving a simple rythmical pattern as the sequence steps across. There is a second VCO that is detuned from the first and this is enabled by another control. Another switch drastically increases the sequence speed so all the notes appear to play at once, this gives lovely sweeping sounds as sliders are enabled or sequence speed is altered. It also makes a neat dub siren, as 2-tone noises / wails / weird sirens can be easilly produced, and through a delay sounds mental. This unit was originally designed to fit into the Oceanus modular synth ( small picture! ) but works well as a stand alone machine, hence putting one into a case. It is a prototype unit and slightly modified for stand alone use.

· ¼” mono output jack activated by push button – not much use!

It is powered from a regular 9v battery inside, so you have to unscrew the front to change it, but an allan key is provided! The actual sequencer is laser cut from a stainless steel sheet, so it should last a while.. likewise you can remove it from the case and put it in your own housing if you want to."
