"An interesting couple of photographs on the official DSI site. The Mopho, and some red Moog synth, I have no idea which one (is it a real Moog at all?) DSI's comment : 'we know what the keyboard really is, but we’re not telling'."
Anyone ID it?

EVERYTHING SYNTH

Juno-106 with a paint job and a sticker?
ReplyDeleteKorg Karma, without a paintjob, just a sticker...
ReplyDeleteWell spotted
ReplyDeleteNow that you mention, it does look like a Karma.
I think though the Korg part on the left has been painted off
In any case, what a stupid idea to masquerade a Karma as a Moog
"In any case, what a stupid idea to masquerade a Karma as a Moog"
ReplyDeleteNot that stupid if you ask me , It gave them another change to get some attention. Allthoughe I do underqtand ist rather silly to pretend having a moog.
That is clearly a MORG synthesizer.
ReplyDeleteWell, yeah, I didn't mean "stupid" as in "what's the point", I understand the rationale behind that
ReplyDeleteBut it's a really cheap ploy
"Allthoughe I do underqtand ist rather silly to pretend having a moog."
ReplyDeleteI think it's also silly to pretend to be Neil Diamond.
:)
Not a Korg Karma. The power plug on the Karma attaches on the left-hand side of the rear panel. The synth pictured has the power plug on the right. Also the Karma lacks wood side cheeks. Synth in the picture has side cheeks, not sure if they're wood.
ReplyDeleteThat said, this matches no Moog I've ever seen. The closest would be the Multimoog, but it's definitely NOT that.
To me it´s just a Triton. I can see the screen, the three knobs on the right (from the player´s point of view) and the four knobs on the left.
ReplyDeleteMaybe the colour is because of the stage lights...
It would be interesting if they chose to promote Moog instead of Korg due to lack of any sponsorship from Korg.
ReplyDeleteIt is a Triton painted Red. They painted over the Korg Logos and Moog Sticker is where the Triton logo would normally be. The big give away is the SCSI option board is showing right below the Moog Sticker...
ReplyDeleteIt was a Triton all right

"I didn't expect the Moog sticker to create such a stir. It's kinda an inside joke with myself. I use a Korg Triton for Super Diamond because it's versatile for that type of music. I don't love the sounds, but it makes the most sense as an all-in-one synth. I can't bring a bunch of gear on the road. I'm a vintage synth collector and most of my cool stuff is too rare and nice to travel with. A few days before Letterman, I covered a Triton with wood grained contact paper and slapped a Moog sticker on it. I brought the DSI MoPo out mostly for product placement. They're great people and I wanted to give them a plug. I wanted to bring the Prophet'08, but it was only one song, and didn't really want to fly with it. I also have a Moog endorsement and sent them a photo as a joke. Thanks for noticing. Good luck on the magazine. J"
ReplyDeleteMatrix, I've painted black, and black gaffed off multiple brands for numerous bands...if they're not getting paid for their support of the gear, nor free gear.... and they ask me to.....
ReplyDelete(note to self, why did they ask me to? Why was it not already done....why had they not already done it themselves? woops, I'm the people,They are the nobility....Meanwhile, I cry my tears and stories to my MOOGS, they are my Doctors...wow I could get deeper better stop...
Funny, I didn't realize that was Super Diamond. I used to go see them play all time!
