PlanB Model 10 as an audio source

YouTube via dkimcg
"a model 15's morph output controls cycling of a model 10 with envelopes fast enough to generate audio. Basically it's a wave shapeable synced oscillator that's especially neat when you feed it multiple outputs from the same model 15. some powerful wave shaping...with an envelope generator.

I had read the m10 was fast enough to use as an audio source, n the scope shows the proof. :)

add the usual ending for stereo. top scope on left, bottom on right.

pardan the bad camerawork, my arm was stopped abruptly by a taxi door in downtown LA."

  1. but can it do 20 minute envelopes like advertised?

  2. No, the mark II can't. The additional circuitry required for the resettable operation knocked that down. On average it's good for about 8 minutes, it's been clocked on over 15 units. To my knowledge and given that most non-gate dependent EG's (this excludes ADSR's) outside of the Blacet and Serge units won't do anything longer than about a minute at best, I feel the M10 is still a good performer. If that isn't acceptable or useful for you, if it's within 30 days of purchase I will refund you, if it's over 30 I will be happy to swap your M10 with anything else in the product line of equal value, or use that dollar amount as credit against anything of greater value. Some deduction may be made if the unit is overly damaged when received.

Before the comments on false advertising start, I will change the web information and I am sorry for this confusion. It's completely my doing but I want to thank those bringing it to our atention because frankly I was not aware of this condition. As you can imagine, we do not sit there and test the maximum cycle time. This would greatly impede the throughput of product out our back door.

This said, I am forever perplexed with user's fascination with what a module won't do as opposed to what it does. No one in this field is making lab-quality function generators. They are making musical instruments. Imagine all of the music that would be out there if this is what people did with them instead of spending their studio hours bench testing!

    Something to think about?

  3. Also be aware that your maximum time can be increased significantly by adjusting the trimpot on the module itself. We set it at the factory at a nominal setting, because increases on the low end effect it's high limit which we like to have at about 1.2 to 1 MS, approx twice the speed available on most EG's. including Blacet. This is why the m10 can hold it's own as an audio generator, becauze it's good for about 1K. DOn't try tracking over a couple of octaves...but for a secondary sub-oct VCO it may do the job for you.
