"Kawai K-5000R expanded synthesizer module which is a very rare and unique sounding instrument using the advance additive synthesis method this one comes with the even more rare ME-1 memory expansion module as you can see from the photographs also it comes with a CD Rom containing many many more patches and other files such as editor librarian program & other files , it comes with the operating manuals and patch lists"
$1350...it's some kind of joke, right? These things were selling in the $250 - $350 range a year ago.
ReplyDeleteWhat would the memory expansion allow one to do? Not load user samples, I'm pretty sure of that. More patch storage?
ReplyDeletemore patch storage.
ReplyDeletethese puppies don't have efficient use of memory. sometimes you need to keep spaces between patch locations in case one patch over-writes into the next patch memory slot. sort of odd.
crazy price however.
The K5000 is an additive synth, no sampler. And due to quite a lot of parameters per patch, you can just store around 60 patches in the internal memory. Can vary up to 128 for very simple patches and can go down to 40 or so for really complex ones.
ReplyDeleteMatrix, the ME-1 fits all K5000 variants. And someone hacked this a while ago and sells DIY versions of this memory expansion.
Thanks MiK.
ReplyDeleteYou are out of your mind for that price. They were selling that one brand new in Sam Ash New York back in 1998 for $300 and I bought the keyboard for $250. The sound was good but a nightmare to program. I sold it a year later just because it was 30000 times more complex than the Kurzweil K2500, in other words useless. It had the best sound but even working the ADSR was a nightmare.
