ReplyDeleteI attended a concert where Sal performed with this instrument in the 80s - it was an extraordinary experience. The SalMar was one of the first, possibly the first, realtime digital performance instruments.
ReplyDeleteI also heard a funny/sad story about this - when it was being built, it was designed so that it was just short enough to go through a standard height door, so it wouldn't have to be disassembled to be moved. But they forgot to compensate for the height of the casters, so in fact every time it was taken out, it had to be completely taken apart...
