Binary Counts in Patterns 1 (2:30)

"An improvised performance on a Temporary Music Machine.

Binary numbers create varying patterns of on and off. The device featured in this film (a "Temporary Music Machine") uses two binary counters controlled by the performer to map these patterns to chord structures and drum sequences (via MIDI). Other controls allow for additional elements of the music to be varied.

The device is only intended to be temporary. A handmade bespoke electronic musical instrument for a limited number of performances. It is based on the Arduino platform and realised through an iterative rather then planned process."
