  2. Damn. I think those are the longest skullets I've ever seen. Yo, the singer's 'do alone, deserves a "synth babe" tag.

  3. Careful guys - dont judge a book by the cover - this guy is David Sylvian who later (after visiting a hairdresser) did some very great work w Robert Fripp, Holger Czukay....Mr Sakamoto and also some solo works which are great and very inspiring....

  4. @The Visa Man - Did not mean to offend. Not judging a book by it's cover. Simply making a silly observation. Robert Fripp rules. :)

  5. maNooshi - surely I got the joke - just want to make sure is clear who this guy really is. Remember Bowie in his early days ...for our nowadays judgement they were all very "silly" looking at these times ...if I remember myself - same: Long hair - velvet pants - red velvet jacket w yellow stars inprint - high heeled (!) denim boots and so on................Cheers

  6. @The Visa Man: Good point and comparison. Bowie has always been the sexiest man-god in the world to me... no matter how silly his get-ups were! It was the sign of the times, man. ;)

  7. And Rain Tree Crow. I've actually seen David Sylvian live with Michael Brooke opening. I'm pretty sure I've seen Rain Tree Crow live once as well, but them were drinking days... Never saw Japan though.

  8. Forget about the David Sylvian solo work. His work in Japan alone is incredible -- they were so freakin' good.

  9. Hy,

a new cd is out soon and it's another change of view:

On Manafon, Sylvian pursues “a completely modern kind of chamber music. Intimate, dynamic, emotive, democratic, economical.” In sessions in London, Vienna, and Tokyo, Sylvian assembled the world’s leading improvisers and innovators, artists who explore free improvisation, space-specific performance, and live electronics. From Evan Parker and Keith Rowe, to Fennesz and members of Polwechsel, to Sachiko M and Otomo Yoshihide, the musicians provide both a backdrop and a counterweight to his own vocal performances – which, minus one instrumental, are nakedly the center of each piece.
