  1. well, not my favourite style at all. And nothing you really need a Moog synth for.

  2. I think it's nice to see someone using a Voyager for something different. Regardless of whether I like it or not, I think it's refreshing to see someone pushing the instrument in different directions from the norm. Bravo!

  3. Pushing the instrument? You must be joking. The performance is so frantic, random, and unmusical that it's as if the Voyager is pushing HIM; he doesn't seem to be in control at all.

FWIW, here's how you put a Voyager through its paces: http://soundcloud.com/btbyrd/spaceships-for-bob-a-minimoog-voyage

  4. Precisely my point. The music at your link sounds like what everyone else is doing. It's nice, but all too familiar.

Keep in mind that I am surrounded by Voyagers and Little Phattys. I live in Asheville where the Moog factory is and have friends that work there.

Whether you like what Tim is doing or not, it's different. That was my point.

    Thanks for your reply.

  5. I suppose I misunderstood your point; you're right that what Tim's doing is different. But mere novelty/difference doesn't really merit an ovation. It's nice when people push boundaries, but it's better when they do it in a way that demonstrates control and taste (instead of simply showing that you can assign OSC pitch as a modulation destination and flip switches while sloppily stabbing at the keyboard). Maybe I was a bit too incensed by your "Bravo!"

At any rate, I wish I was living in Asheville surrounded by Moogs (I'm from NC and love the high country). That's the retirement plan, actually :-)

  9. I think we need to keep in mind that everything isn't made for us. For everything that we don't personally like, there are tons of others that will. I choose to commend people on their effort, offer constructive criticism or not say anything at all. Especially, when it comes to something as subjective as creativity. Not picking on anyone, just thought it was worth mentioning.
