this is badass! can't believe he was 12 when he put this together, awesome little beast of a noise box
ReplyDeleteCome to think of it, I think I was 11. I entered it in my middle school science fair the following year, when I was 12. The circuit was from a Radio Shack datasheet on the SN94281 chip. Had some help from Dad making the wooden box.
ReplyDeleteThe shame of it is, SN94281's were not as popular as the SN76477N, so they are even harder to find nowadays. The output amplifier in mine no longer works, so I can only play with an external amp.
I'm torn as to whether I should replace the obviously worn out pots. On one hand, it would sound better; on the other hand it would somehow take something away from the "authenticity" of it; if there is such a thing for handmade objects...
