Listed as a Vintage Synth. I usually use the titles in the auctions for fun. Anyone know more about this one? Looks like it has a Sine and Ramp or Sawtooth switch. Perc knob might act like an envelope or add a percussive element to the sound?

It's a Hohner Basset, one of those 1960's keyboard basses. Info in the interwebs is exceedingly thin.
ReplyDeleteThe auction says it is broken because they plugged it in and got no sound. I am betting it needs to be plugged into an amp and they were expecting a built in speaker? But there does not appear to be any standard audio out jack, just some weird 5 prong thing next to the power jack.
ReplyDeleteThe "Perc" potentiometer is actually controlling the decay. The two sounds are best described as "bass" and "tuba" - but on the other hand, this is obviously not true...

Nothing weird. Just a 3 pin DIN-socket. Quite usual in musical equipment from Europe in the 50/60/70ies.
The Basset sounds really "full" and "round" - at least the one, I have played once, which had a nice slight distortion which made the triangle waveform sound like tuned playable 808 Bassdrum.
