Carbon111 and the Yamaha VL-1 at the PNW Synth Gathering 2010

YouTube via matrixsynth | July 27, 2010 http://carbon111.com "Brief demo of the Yamaha VL1 by Carbon111. Note the Yamaha VL1 is a physical modeling synth and with this particular demo, Carbon111 is using a breath controller to "trigger" the sounds while he plays pitch on the keyboard."

  1. the king of wind controller modules. i think most wind players have this synth module in the back of their minds while the asking prices make most settle on the vl70-m.

probally didn't get too far because it was designed with wind controller players in mind. they asked 6000 when it came out while trying to keep it's marketability with keys attached while the dsps were maxed out modelling 2 notes of polyphony and high quality effects. basic editing of patches included assigning controllers to presets but to really get involved with original patch creation involved 1000's of parameters represented with text boxes and numbers.

so little on the web but here's a few favorites for audio: http://www.kbspace.com/vl1m/audio/index.html
has preset demos with some of the more exotic timbres like the metal sheet being driven by a reed.

has demos of matt traum's patches he made for the vl1.
