Ensoniq EPS 16 Plus - Sampled Drums Part 10

YouTube via TheDaydreamSound | January 06, 2011 |

"Here's part 10, the final video of the sampled drums series. The EPS 16 + handles drums really well. The only way I can describe it is it gives the samples a very cold glossy feel (kind of like a ice covered rock). The definition in the higher frequencies are rolled of slightly when sampling at 44.1Khz and the lower frequencies are just hard sounding.

With the exception of the Mirage and the ASR X, the Filters on every one of the Ensoniq samplers are pretty much the same. I've grown to like them more and more over time. When I first heard them I didn't think much of them.

If you're into older gear and you're looking for a sampler that has a lot of routing, modulation and synthisis capabilites, the Ensoniq EPS 16 Plus might be right up your alley. It's perfrect for someone who likes to create sounds from scratch. Despite the fact that you will only have 2MB or sample RAM once it's expanded, I find that I've done more with it than I've done with samplers with much more memory. It's really more of synthesiser that you can sample your own waveforms instead of using preset waveforms, which makes it a really powerful sound shaping tool.

And if all else fails, you can even make the EPS 16 Plus create a square wave by Going to " Command Wave and selecting Create New Waveform". I've made quite a few sounds using this feature.
