E-mu mp7 midi synth/sequencer w/ techno rom

via this auction

via the seller/listing: "This is an E-MU mp-7 command station body I bought as a spare and installed the xtreme lead XL-1 rom in. There is no mp-7 rom inside, just the xl rom. I upgraded the OS so that it would refresh the preset list and stop looking for the mp rom so by default it goes into user patches which rocks! I tested out the unit - everything functions fine with the exception of the very first pad on the left not triggering anything and the bent bnc light socket, also though it really has no bearing whatsoever on the functionality of the unit, some leds are pushed into the case above the track mutes (they still light up, though). over 1,000 presets! 6 analog outs! SPDIF digital stereo out! Dual fx processors! an insane amount of modular synth-like internal routing!

I actually prefer the xl rom to the stock mp-7 sounds (too many ooh baby vocal samples and corny one shot stuff) as the xl rom has much more imho usable raw waves and the hits are mostly cool synth chords and stuff as opposed to cheezy 90s rap samples (just get a sampler!).

The midi sequencer in this thing is amazing! 2 midi outs, midi in and 32 channels internal , external, or both! Realtime , Grid and Step sequencing (switchable in realtime without having to stop the pattern from playing) if you have a hardware sampler or any midi synths , this thing is a great , well..command station for all your gear. The midi timing is rock solid . Just the sequencer itself makes this a great deal, but once you factor in the famous z-plane filters, all those realtime (midi transmitting) controllers all over this thing and the ability to stack up to four layers with a ton of individually controllable parameters per layer, you start to realize just why they stopped pushing "grooveboxes" years ago-compared to this thing, everything else is a toy! Not some plastic plaything , its made out of steel and in the USA! There is space inside the unit for three more roms!"
