Marsynth eNews 7-12-11

"Greetings all, its been a while since I've sent out a news update! Things have been very busy here the past couple of months for both Marsynth and for me personally. I'm in the process of moving the studio/workshop to a new, larger location that should really improve my workflow and allow for some expansion. I apologize to those individuals that are currently waiting on units; the move will take a few days out of my time for building. I will resume working on units once things are back in order. The rest of this newsletter will focus on the current status of the Nomad, a new product, some product updates, and some info on Marsynth demos and related performances coming up.

Nomad Update: After spending many hours trying to address a few issues with the current design, I've decided to completely re-design a few portions of the Nomad. This will push things back even further, but ultimately, I feel this will lead to a better end product. The bottom line with my designs is that I need to be happy with them, and be willing to put my name on them and stand behind them; the Nomad will be a reality, just not quite yet. At the moment, I have orders and a few other things in the works that you can read about below that are taking priority, so I estimate it may be a month or two before I have the rev 2 Nomad proto going. I'll be sure to provide updates on the progress.

New Product - The Workshop Board: With the DIY music scene blowing up these days, I've really been wanting to do a kit, and after a bit of work getting up to speed on PCBs, I'm pleased to announce the Marsynth Workshop Board! This will coincidentally be the first Marsynth product to have a professionally manufactured PCB. This kit will also be the lowest priced unit, roughly $60US. I'm currently waiting on the first batch of proto boards, and will be making the official announcement on the website once they come in and get tested. I plan on doing local workshops in the near future centered around this board once the production versions are ready.

Product Updates - PCBs and Standardized Enclosures: With the development of the Workshop Board, I decided it was time to switch over all of my other standard units to manufactured PCBs as well. However, with the switch, I'll be making a few tweaks to several of the current designs. I'll have more specific details on this in a few weeks as I get all of the layouts done. In addition, I will be switching over to standardized enclosures soon for all current products. Doing this will allow me to speed up the build process, improve my quality control, and provide a more professional end product. Tins, wooden boxes, and other various enclosures will still be available on a limited basis, however they will be considered custom orders and as such, will have a higher price.

Marsynth Demos and Performances: I will be attending a few upcoming events that I wanted to mention:

Elecro-music.com Kansas City Gathering: I will be attending and performing at the upcoming Kansas City electro-music.com gathering in Parkville MO on July 22-23. I will be presenting, performing, and will have units on hand for demonstration and for sale. A majority (if not all) of the event will be broadcast live on electro-musics' radio station: http://electro-music.com/radio/ so tune in if you aren't able to attend. More info about the event can be found here: http://www.facebook.com/groups/128570223853028

Under the Radar: I'll be playing a set at an annual show hosted by the Foundation in downtown KC this Friday, July 15. I'll be using predominately Marsynth gear at this show, so it should be a good time! Check out the event info here: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=221224234583661

I think that about does it for this installment of the Marsynth eNews; be sure to keep an eye on the site for updates related to the things presented above. This summer is looking to be very busy and very fun!

Thanks,

Damon
